How to watch the Premier League in the Nordics
Premier League kick-off times in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, why more matches are live here than in England, and how to compare ways of watching.
The NHL is the league Nordic hockey players dream of, and it is played while the Nordics sleep. Here is when the games start, and how to follow a season without wrecking your nights.

An evening game in New York starts at 01:00 in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and 02:00 in Finland. Weekend afternoon games are the exception and start around 19:00. Catch-up, 7 days on three and six months and 14 days on twelve months, is what makes a full NHL season watchable from Europe.
| Start in North America | Sweden, Norway, Denmark | Finland |
|---|---|---|
| 13:00 Eastern (weekend afternoon) | 19:00 | 20:00 |
| 19:00 Eastern (usual evening start) | 01:00 | 02:00 |
| 19:00 Central | 02:00 | 03:00 |
| 19:00 Pacific | 04:00 | 05:00 |
The regular season runs from October to April, and the Stanley Cup playoffs continue into June. Most teams play three or four games a week.
North America moves its clocks on different dates from Europe: in March it switches about two weeks earlier, and in autumn about a week later. During those weeks the gap is five hours instead of six, so a 19:00 game in New York starts at midnight in Stockholm.
The programme guide in your player handles this automatically, as long as the device is set to the right time zone.
Catch-up lets you play a game that has already been broadcast, straight from the guide. Three- and six-month plans keep 7 days, twelve months keeps 14. The test and the one-month plan have none.
On Saturdays and Sundays some teams play in the early afternoon local time, which means early evening in the Nordics. These are the games to watch live, with Nordic players often on the ice and the whole house awake.
Hockey is the fastest sport on a TV screen, and it shows a weak device before any other sport does. A Fire TV Stick 4K or an Android TV device with a cable to the router is the safe choice. The device guide has the details.
